Child Welfare Council meeting

The Child Welfare Council members conducted their 2022 first quarter meeting at Great Zimbabwe in Masvingo. The Council spent some time interacting with Community Childcare Workers (CCWs) and foster parents in Masvingo district and they travelled to Bikita district to monitor the situation of children placed at Little Bird Children’s home.

The Board had an opportunity to meet with some CCWs, Foster Parents and Peer Facilitators. The Board was impressed with the level of dedication and commitment by these community cadres thereby promoting sustainability of Child Protection systems using our Ubuntu. The Board is therefore encouraging all Child Protection Donors and stakeholders who complement Government’s effort to recognize and promote these community structures through ongoing training and capacity building activities.

The visit to Little Bird Children’s Home was a joy to the Board as there were a lot of good practices that other Instructions can take a leaf from. The home is an example of teamwork and good collaboration amongst the Government, Faith based organisations and the private sector in the best interest of the child.
